Girl, quit your stressin’

Alright girl, you need to cool it. Quit your dang stressing. Sorry if that was harsh, but I just need you to know that you do not deserve to be as stressed as you are. Those expectations you have for yourself are very far fetched and causing you unnecessary harm.

Boo, you do not need that!

We all know I’m a self care advocate, but when you do self care are you still having negative self talk going on in the background? When you’re done taking the hour for yourself, do you come back to all your to do’s instantly feeling overwhelmed again? Self care is so darn needed but if we circle back to the negative situation is it really doing anything?

Ladies, mamas, business owners, literally to all the women out there, we put too much weight on our shoulders. Yup, I said it! We don’t need to take it all on. We do not need to be super woman. We are human. We our uniquely ourselves, we make mistakes, we get tired, we need breaks and that is okay.

So how do we do that?

Oh gosh, I thought you’d never ask!

Set boundaries

Know your boundaries and honor them. You deserve to be respected in all that you do. Whether that’s respected from a client or simply from yourself.

Learn to say no

I swear EVERYONE struggles with this, but if there is one rule you follow from this list it would be this. Saying yes to things you do not want to do is only going to cause you long term stress. Saying no is going to cause you stress for one second you respond and then instant relief. Which one do you want to choose?

Set a schedule and stick to it

Once you have your schedule written out it will seem a lot more tangible. Also there is nothing better than physically seeing your to do list being checked off one task at a time!

Be honest

Honesty, y’all, it’s key. Screwed up on a customers project? Be honest, not only will that help your stress about the situation, your customer will most likely really appreciate it. They’ll see you’re honest, trustworthy and human! It’s relatable!

Remind yourself you’re human

Yup, I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again. YOU. ARE. HUMAN. You do not need to put all of the stress on yourself. You’re human just like everyone else. You’ve made a mistake, cool so have I! You’re drowning in work, take a break and stick to your work hours, make a list of to do’s and you’ll be surprised how fast you can get it done when you write it out and focus on them in order of importance. Be honest, tell your client you are backed up a week in work and will not be getting to their project until then. Remember you can only do so much, and the most important thing you need to do is take care of yourself!

Own who you are

Own who you are and stand up for what you believe in and everything else will follow. If you’re honest with yourself and the people around you, there will be nothing to stress about. Set boundaries to ensure your needs are being taken care of in order to fulfill the needs of others.

This may seem like a lot to do especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed as it is, but I challenge you to take one of these pieces of advice and try it out. You do not need the world on your shoulders. What you need is to take a deep breath and remind yourself that you’re doing your best. You’re doing so amazing at being you, at being human, at making mistakes. Give yourself some grace and take care, boo!
